Our List of Favorite Thinning Hair Remedies:

1) Laser Comb Treatment-The FDA has recently approved a laser comb-like device as one of the newest thinning hair products. Tests were conducted at four sites across the country. The product was found to increase the number of thick hairs in 93% of people between the ages of 30 and 60. Over a six month period the product increased the number of scalp hairs by 19 per square centimeter while a control group lost 10 hairs per square centimeter. This means that the laser comb group had a net gain of 29 hairs per square centimeter. The average human scalp contains about 220 hairs per square centimeter. The product approved by the FDA is called the Hair Max Laser Comb and is produced by Lexington International, LLC as a new thinning hair treatment.
2) Hair weaves-There are many different types of hair material and attachment techniques on the market today. These thinning hair remedies are the least expensive and most popular and are called  the non-remy hair or fallen hair product. It is human hair whose roots and tips are mixed up randomly. This random mixing of hair shafts can result in  tangling problems. The hair shaft has an outer layer called the cuticle made of several layers of overlapping cells similar to roofing shingles. Tangling occurs when adjacent hairs  laying in opposite directions experience friction of their cuticles. A process which removes the cuticle and applies a laminate for smoothness and shininess has greatly improved non-remy hair. Synthetic hair is available as well. It comes in many quality levels but typically has a life span of about one year at best. Synthetic hair may not look natural as it can be stiff and may not move like natural hair making it one of the less desirable thinning hair remedies.
3) Minoxidil Treatment-These hair growth products are commonly sold as a product called Rogaine. It is used to promote hair growth and slow down balding. It works best for people under 40 years old who have recently suffered from natural hair loss. It has no effect on frontal hair loss. It can not be said that it cures hair loss since regrown hair will be lost upon discontinuation of use. Minoxidil treatment is said to be more effective when used in conjunction with dexpanthenol. Dexpanthenol is used to clean the sebum, a wax-like material, from around the hair root. Clearing the sebum away allows the Minoxidil to penetrate the scalp down to the hair root more effectively
4) Follicular Unit Hair Transplants-Until the mid 1990s hair transplants consisted of hair grafts containing 10 to 25 hairs. These hair plugs did not look natural and left the texture of the hair with a spotty appearance. Natural hair grows in follicular groups of 1-4 hairs. In performing a follicular hair unit transplant groups of 1-4 naturally occurring hairs are removed from the back of the scalp or donor region. These hair groups are then transplanted uniformly between existing hair to make the hair look fuller and thicker. These thinning hair remedies are effective for treating male pattern baldness and female hair loss. It can be used to replace hair in the eyebrow as well.
5) Microfober Hair Thickening Products-These thinning hair remedies are fibers that are topically applied to existing hair follicles. These thickener fibers build volume of the thinner areas and give the appearance of having much more hair. The product is temporary and must be reapplied. A spray applicator can be used with some brands to achieve a more effectively executed result. Color matching would be an obvious issue.

In addition to some of these proven products and services there are several natural remedies for thinning hair. Green tea shampoo is one of these. It reduces the amount of a hormone called dihydrotestosterone, or DHT found on the scalp. An enzyme called 5 alpha reductase converts testosterone into DHT and eventually causes thinning hair. The green tea combines with the 5 alpha reductase and stops the creation of DHT.

One idea you may not have thought of as thinning hair remedies are cardiovascular exercises. Exercise produces steroid metabolizing enzymes that reduce levels of DHT.

Olive oil is one of the thinning hair remedies associated with healthy hair and skin. It can be consumed internally as in a salad dressing or mixed with other ingredients and applied topically. Just mix a few drops of peppermint, sage, and rosemary oil into one tablespoon of olive oil and rub into the scalp. This clears sebum and allows for better hair growth.
